Meet The Founder

Joshua Carney

Son of the South • “The Original Natural Caller”

Joshua Carney is the heart and soul behind The Camp Network. A lifelong outdoorsman raised in the rich sporting traditions of the American South, Joshua grew up chasing whitetails through hardwood bottoms, calling turkeys at dawn, and running trotlines on muddy river banks. The outdoors isn't just a hobby for Joshua — it's a way of life, a calling that runs deep in his blood.

As the founder of Son of the South, Joshua built a brand rooted in authenticity, heritage, and a genuine love for the land. Known as “The Original Natural Caller,” he earned a reputation for his skill in the field and his passion for sharing the outdoor lifestyle with others. That same passion drove him to create The Camp Network — a platform designed to connect hunters, anglers, and outdoor enthusiasts with premium experiences and trusted outfitters across the globe.

Joshua's vision is simple: make the outdoors accessible, build a community of like-minded sportsmen and women, and preserve the traditions that make our outdoor heritage worth fighting for. Through The Camp Network, he's turning that vision into reality — one adventure at a time.

Proud Partner

Camp Hero KY

Healing Heroes Through the Power of Nature

The Camp Network is proud to partner with Camp Hero KY, an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to serving wounded veterans and first responders through outdoor therapy and nature immersion in the Appalachian Mountains of Kentucky.

Founded by Rocco Besednjak — a medically retired U.S. Navy veteran and former police officer who experienced the healing power of the outdoors firsthand while recovering from service-connected PTSD — Camp Hero provides 3-4 day getaways where heroes can hike, explore caves, ride ATVs, observe wildlife, gather around campfires, and hunt during season. All lodging and meals are covered through generous donations.

Camp Hero's Nature Immersion Program goes even deeper, teaching tracking, bushcraft, survival skills, and weather reading while fostering fellowship and mental well-being. The program is designed for all experience levels and includes mental health education — because healing happens when you step into the wild.

Through our partnership, The Camp Network helps connect veterans and first responders with outdoor healing experiences. We believe every hero deserves the chance to find peace, purpose, and camaraderie in the places that matter most — out in nature, under open skies, with brothers and sisters who understand.
